The third pillar

3) Faith in Allah’s Books

One has to believe in this 4 books…

1) Zabuur (Pslams)- sent upon Prophet Dawud (David) alayhissalaam (Upon him peace)

Allah Almighty said : “And your Lord knows best all who are in the heavens and the earth. And indeed, We have preferred some of the Prophets above others, and to Dawud (David) We gave the Zabur (Psalms).” 17:55

2) Taurah (Torah)- sent down upon Prophet Musa (Moses) (as)

Allah Almighty said: “He has sent down upon you, [O Muhammad], the Book in truth, confirming what was before it. And He revealed the Torah and the Gospel.” 3:3

3) Injeel (Gospel)- sent upon Prophet I’sa (Jesus) (as)

Allah Almighty said: ” And We sent, following in their footsteps, Jesus, the son of Mary, confirming that which came before him in the Torah; and We gave him the Gospel, in which was guidance and light and confirming that which preceded it of the Torah as guidance and instruction for the righteous.” 5:46

4) Quraanulkareem (Quran)- sent down on our beloved Prophet Muhammad Peace Be Upon Him

Allah Almighty said ” Indeed, We have sent it down as an Arabic Qur’an that you might understand.” 12:2

We have to believe that whatever written in them is truly from Allah as a guide  to mankind. However, some people hold on to this statement: “The name of the Angel of Death, Izraeel, is not from Allah as it came from the Torah, the book of “Jews” and to say that name is from Allah is kufur (become kaafir).” If the book is from Allah, then we have to believe that whatever in it is from Him. For instance, the Jews were asked to kill themselves to repent,  Allah Almighty said: “And [recall] when Moses said to his people, “O my people, indeed you have wronged yourselves by your taking of the calf [for worship]. So repent to your Creator and kill yourselves. That is best for [all of] you in the sight of your Creator.” Then He accepted your repentance; indeed, He is the Accepting of repentance, the Merciful.” 2:54. But now, to repent, the ummah(people) of Muhammad PBUH only have to offer repentance to their creator  Allah Almighty said: “Except for those who repent after that and correct themselves. For indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful” 3:89, except the unforgivable sin of shirik, Allah Almighty said: “Indeed, Allah does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills. And he who associates others with Allah has certainly fabricated a tremendous sin.” 4:48

Nowadays, the three books have been changed with time. Allah Almighty said: “Do you covet [the hope, O believers], that they would believe for you while a party of them used to hear the words of Allah and then distort the Torah after they had understood it while they were knowing?” 2:75. So we cannot really use them as reference now. But the Holy Quraan is special. Allah Almighty has said to protect it till the end of times. Allah Almighty stated in His  Holy Quran : ” Indeed, it is We who sent down the reminder (Qur’an) and indeed, We will be its guardian.” 15:9. The Quran is taken care of from the destructive nature of men. For example, there are so many Hafizh (memoriser of the Quran) so for a person to change a part of it is impossible. The word Hafizh itself means keeper. SubhanAllah!

Now you know why the Quraan is sent down as a guide to all mankind. So as Muslims, we must cherish and instill in our hearts the Guide that our beloved Creator has bestowed us!

May Allah bestow on us the honour in being the keeper of the Quraan, and also one whose actions are the Quraan till the end of our lives.

Ameen Yaa Rabbal Aa’lameen!

All good is from The Divine, while all the bad is from my weak self…

Salaam…

*Please inform me of any wrong things I’ve said. JazakAllah…
