We’re family!

Islam is not only a religion, nor is it only a way of life…Islam is an international  institution and Muslims are one big family.

Let me ask you a question..
Is it appropriate for your sister to be suffering under the hands of an oppressor with little hope of surviving on her part and you here are partying the night out as if that’s all there is to life? Of course we wouldn’t!!

Unfortunately, this is our current situation O Muslims! I’m not saying that your sibling is currently being terrorised. No.

I’m talking about the current situation of this ummah. How we, as a big family, remain indifferent to the sufferings of the other members of our family!

Ask ourselves! Our fellow brothers and sisters are suffering in Palestine just because they stood up for what they believed in…and what are we doing?
We have been successfully duped! Our brothers and sisters are being tortured and we are fooled into thinking that they, the Palestinians, asked for it(nauzubillah from such a thought!) or that ‘nah, it does not concern me.’ Reality check: it does concern us! Just as our mothers would get angry if we would be indifferent to our sibling’s suffering, more so would our Creator be if we remain indifferent to our fellow creation’s plight!

He made us responsible for each other! He made us one big family! We should not allow minute details to divide us! We should stop bickering over the little things that we disagree upon!
There is no time for such things!
We need to grow up. We need to look at the bigger picture. Our ‘siblings’ need us.
Don’t get fooled by the dunya. Take the dunya as your current temporary rental house and the akhira as your island paradise. Would you work to ensure you get to live the average life in your normal house or would you like to upgrade and ‘save up’ for the island paradise?

So, you might be thinking now…
You must be kidding! I can’t possibly go there and help them, given all the commitments I have to my community! It is not really feasible for me as well as all the other Muslims to leave their communities to go free Palestine.

Well, know that force is not the only way to help.

On the authority of Abu Sa’eed al-Khudree (may Allah be pleased with him) who said:

I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say, “Whosoever of you sees an evil, let him change it with his hand; and if he is not able to do so, then [let him change it] with his tongue; and if he is not able to do so, then with his heart — and that is the weakest of faith.” [Muslim]

Here, two other modes of righting a wrong is mentioned: by the tongue or by the heart

So, how can i help Palestine using my tongue? Well, its surely not by promoting Palestinian cuisine><

We can use our words to spread the truth or the severity of the oppression they are receiving. Words are mightier than the sword. Correct the misunderstanding spread by the media on the reality of what is happening there. Motivate people who can take actions so as to spur them into taking action. Force is not necessarily the only answer. The answer is not objective.

What about the heart then? To help them using our hearts means to keep them forever in our duas, forever in our thoughts. Wake up in the early hours of the morning: praying, weeping and begging Allah to have mercy on them and grant them martyrdom.
You might be thinking that ”my doa is not as powerful..I’ve sinned a lot..”
Well, firstly, never lose hope in the Mercy of Allah and secondly, may our doa get barakah(blessing) due to the thing we doa-ed for…

So, instead of staying up all night watching movies, turn in early and wake up early the next morning to begin our ‘munajah’ to Allah Almighty.

Instead of wasting time lazing around flipping through channels, we could increase our knowledge of what is transpiring concerning Muslims worldwide so as to be a responsible brother/sister.

We should love for our brother what we’d love for ourselves. If we love peace, we too must love peace for our brother and hence, we have to help him obtain the thing that he loves due to our deep love for him for the sake of Allah.

May Allah forgive us for neglecting our family in the past and may He gives us the capabilities and strength as well as knowledge in spreading peace and unity among the sons of Adam (alayhissalam)

Ameen ya rabbal Alameen

Alhamdulillah alaa kulli nia’mihi alayya..
